A rare example of a hussar saber belonging to an officer or non-commissioned officer of the 6th Hussar Regiment of the German Empire. Cavalry cold weapons of this period were intended for personnel of dragoon, cuirassier, uhlan, hussar, and other cavalry units and remained in service until the conclusion of World War I in 1918. Sabers, broadswords, and other examples of bladed weapons were an integral part of the equipment of the German cavalry, serving both combat functions and the role of a status attribute for military personnel. The attribution of this specimen to a specific regiment (No. 6) substantially increases its collectible value and presents particular interest for collectors of German military antiquities.
