Fine and richly hand-painted regimental stein commemorating service in the 2nd Royal Bavarian Field Artillery Regiment “Prinz Leopold,” 1st Battery, stationed in Munich. The central panel bears the Bavarian coat of arms and regimental title, surrounded by vivid service scenes — farewell, mounted drills, and gun crew action. Pewter lid with detailed reliefs of crossed cannons and the Iron Cross, topped by a sculptural finial of two artillerymen behind a cannon; thumb lift in the form of a Bavarian lion. The motto “Kanonendonner ist unser Gruß” (“The thunder of cannons is our greeting”) encircles the rim.
Superb condition, crisp colors, and exceptional lid detail make this a quintessential example of pre-WWI Bavarian reservist artistry.
