Service dagger of the German Labor Front (Deutsche Arbeitsfront), model of 1936. The handle is executed in orange bakelite with characteristic spiral fluting. The pommel is decorated with a relief image of a cog wheel, symbolizing the working class. The cross-guard is formed in the shape of a DAF eagle holding a toothed wheel with a swastika in its talons. The blade bears the maker’s mark of Carl Eickhorn, Solingen, featuring the company’s signature squirrel and inscriptions reading ‘Ges. Gesch.’ and ‘Original Eickhorn’. The blade is double-edged with a central reinforcing ridge. The object is of considerable collector’s interest as an example of regulation cold weapons issued by organizations of the Third Reich.
