    Austro-Hungarian Danube River Fleet Officer’s Dagger (Lot: 427)

    Austro-Hungarian Danube River Fleet Officer’s Dagger, a rare ceremonial piece from the late 19th to early 20th century, exhibiting remarkable craftsmanship throughout. The straight, double-edged blade of diamond cross-section features fine etched and engraved decoration, still clearly visible along its surface. The gilt-bronze hilt displays the iconic dolphin-shaped crossguard symbolizing naval and river service, while the fluted ivory (or imitation) grip ends with a richly ornamented ferrule and crown-shaped pommel. The gilded brass scabbard is adorned with high-relief decoration including an anchor beneath a royal crown and the D.S.F. monogram — Donaudampfschiffahrtsgesellschaft, the Danube Steamship Company later associated with the imperial river fleet. The surface is richly ornamented with scrolling motifs and shell-shaped suspension fittings. Overall condition is very good for its age, with noble patina and fine presentation. A scarce and elegant dagger, considerably rarer than the standard Austro-Hungarian naval patterns.

    An original SS service dagger, Model 1933, manufactured by F.W. Helbig, Steinbach. The blade bears the standard SS motto “Meine Ehre heißt Treue” (“My Honor is Loyalty”), along with the RZM code 1163/38.

    The grip is made of dark wood with inlaid the eagle and enamel SS emblem. All fittings are nickel-plated, showing a natural patina of age. The scabbard is original, black painted with nickel-plated fittings. Complete with its leather hanger, marked by RZM.

    A fine German Army officer’s dagger, Model 1935, produced by the Solingen maker Gustav Spitzer. It features an orange-toned grip with twisted design, a detailed eagle crossguard, and a pommel with oak leaf wreath. The steel scabbard shows the typical pebbled finish with suspension bands and rings. Complete with its original silver portepee, this dagger is a desirable example by a scarcer maker.

    Pewter lid richly embossed with military motifs and topped by a three-dimensional cannon and gun crew, with a Bavarian lion thumb lift. Interior base contains a lithophane showing an artilleryman at his gun.

    The upper rim reads “Kanonendonner ist unser Gruß” – “The thunder of cannons is our greeting.”

    The body depicts vivid hand-painted artillery scenes — horse-drawn batteries charging into action, gun crews firing, and soldiers returning to the barracks. Center medallion features the crowned monogram “L” flanked by portraits of King Ludwig III and Prince Regent Luitpold.

    Handle lists comrades-in-arms from the same battery. Pewter lid topped with a mounted cavalryman, richly engraved with battle motifs; thumb lift shaped as the Bavarian lion. Interior lithophane shows a soldier with cannon.

The central panel bears the Bavarian coat of arms and regimental title, surrounded by vivid service scenes — farewell, mounted drills, and gun crew action. Pewter lid with detailed reliefs of crossed cannons and the Iron Cross, topped by a sculptural finial of two artillerymen behind a cannon; thumb lift in the form of a Bavarian lion.     A fine early 20th-century regimental stein belonging to Georg Huber, commemorating his service with the 5th Battery, 2nd Bavarian Field Artillery Regiment “Königin Mutter”, stationed in Munich. The colorful hand-painted body features a cavalryman charging with drawn sabre against an Alpine backdrop, symbolizing Bavarian martial spirit. Surrounding panels depict gun crews in action and scenes of barracks life, with the inscription “Erinnerung an meine Dienstzeit” (“In memory of my service”).

    The pewter lid bears a mounted cavalry figure and embossed Bavarian crest, with the motto “Mein Trost in trüben Stunden – Das hübsche Mäd’l aus Bayernland” (“My comfort in dark hours – the pretty girl from Bavaria”). Superb craftsmanship, vivid enamels, and early date (1900–02) make this an exceptional Munich-produced reservist stein of the “Königin Mutter” artillery regiment.

    A fine early 20th-century regimental stein belonging to Gunner Mühlhuber, commemorating his service in the 7th Field Artillery Regiment “Prinzregent Luitpold”, 1st Battery, based in Munich during 1906–1908. The hand-painted porcelain body vividly depicts mounted artillery units in training and gun crews in action, with the patriotic motto “Drei Jahre haben wir gedient für Deutschlands Fried’ und Ehr’” (“Three years we served for Germany’s peace and honor”).

    The front features the crowned initials PL of Prince Regent Luitpold, surrounded by ornamental motifs and regimental banners. Pewter lid with artilleryman and cannon finial, Bavarian lion thumb lift, and lithophane inside showing the classic “soldier’s farewell” scene. Rich color, fine detail, and strong glaze make this an outstanding example of Munich-produced reservist art from the pre-WWI period.

    A superb early 20th-century regimental stein commemorating the service of Reservist Ziegler with the 5th Battery of the 2nd Bavarian Foot Artillery Regiment stationed at Germersheim, on the Rhine. The richly hand-painted body depicts heavy artillery crews in training, horse teams in the field, and a panoramic view of the Germersheim fortress. The motto “Wir dienen am d. Rheinesstrand zum Schutze für das Vaterland” (“We serve on the banks of the Rhine for the defense of the Fatherland”) runs around the top border. The pewter lid features an artilleryman with a field gun and a Bavarian lion thumb lift, symbolizing the proud Bavarian artillery tradition.

    An outstanding example of pre-WWI reservist craftsmanship, combining patriotic imagery, vivid color, and fine porcelain detail typical of 1900s regimental souvenirs.

    This is one of the nicest SS Tropical sets we have seen. Looks almost brand new and must have been stored away for decades untouched. The buckle rates 100% and is nicely SS and RZM marked on the reverse. The front of the buckle is very pretty with excellent detail and a frosty look. The buckle comes with stunning belt that shows no pulls, no stains and has a crisp feel to it. Would be very hard to find a nicer set than this one.

    Extremely nice tropical set. The buckle has much of the original paint remaining and a fine detail to the front with just normal rub type wear to the high parts. Unmarked on the back and comes on the original gold/tan tropical belt. The belt is in fine condition as well and is marked as a size 95 with the RBN number on the other end. All machine sewn and shows no damage or staining. Excellent example.

    Great tropical belt and buckle set in near mint condition that is dated 1941 and made by N&H. The buckle shows beautiful paint and has the original tab still attached. The belt has a little wear with a few pulls and is all machine sewn and is marked as a size 100. Just a fine example that would look amazing in a tropical display or even on a mannequin.
