A Good And Desirable French Flintlock Steel Barrel “Duckbill” Blunderbuss Pistol Circa 1775.
6 and 1/2 inch ‘Spanish’ form barrel. 1 and 1/8th inches wide across the muzzle. Lovely rings at muzzle and rings at the juncture of the round section with the faceted breech section.
The plain convex lock struck with French proof, bridled frizzen, push on safety. Full steel mounts, the plain triggerguard with acorn finial. Nicely shaped faceted steel sideuplate. Steel umbrella buttcap. Figured walnut fullstockl well carved with shell design at rear of breech.
A most attractive design on wrist in fine silver wire compliments this good officer’s blunderbuss. The bore is good and the action is crisp on both half and full cock. Steel surfaces are smooth with no pitting. The stock is fine overall with one minor loss under tail of the lock and another at forward portion. Ramrod is a replacement. 12 and 3/4 inches overall.
